Minister of culture: Geopark Pacitan Bali and Indonesia Tourism Being New Products
Minister of Culture and Tourism (Minister of Culture), Ir. Jero Wacik, SE states, when Caldera Volcano Batur, Bali and Karst Pacitan, East Java escaped recognition and registration number and sertifik of Geoprak Global Network (GGN) by UNESCO later this year, the two regions will be a product (branding) new for Indonesian tourism.
"If both these areas qualify for recognition and registration number and certificate of Geoprak Global Network (GGN) by UNESCO, the area has become a new tourism product branding as well as Indonesia," said Culture and Tourism Jero Wacik susai meet with 2,000 leaders and people from 15 villages in Kintamani Bangli, Bali, on Friday (4 / 2).
The meeting in order to prepare the community will welcome the enactment of Mount Batur Caldera as garden earth or geopark is used for preservation of geology as well as a tourist attraction, so that through tourism activities in the region will prosper the community. According to plan the assessment team (assessor) of UNESCO will come Batur, Bali in June 2011.
Culture and Tourism Jero Wacik said, Indonesia has filed two geopark Batur and Pacitan to UNESCO, "If both proposals are recognized and certified from GGN, Caldera and Pacitan Kars will be promoted internationally without having to be accompanied big financing," said Minister of Culture.
GNN UNESCO has sent an appraiser (assesor) Prof. Ibrahim Komoo to conduct an informal visit to the Batur Volcano in April 2010. Furthermore, Indonesia has sent the manuscript (dossier) Geopark Batur and Pacitan to UNESCO to be assessed. The manuscript had been returned for repair in accordance with the guidelines of UNESCO's most recent assessment. After the assessment in June 2011, Batur and Pacitan expected to be set as GGN geopark by UNESCO at the end of 2011.
